Structure Migration to Jira Cloud

Problem

I want to migrate Structure from Data Center to Jira Cloud.

Solution

General Migration Approach

Migration Path: Besides the officially recommended method for migrating this app from DC to Cloud (e.g., JCMA), do you support other migration methods, such as CSV/XML export and custom scripts?

Feature Parity: Are there any features or configurations in the DC version of the app that are not available or work differently in the cloud version?

Pre-Migration Preparation

Pre-check Tools: Do you provide any pre-migration diagnostics or reports to identify potential issues before migration?

Dependencies: Does the app have dependencies on other Jira apps, entities, or system configurations that need to be addressed before migration?

  • Structure does not have dependencies on other apps. However, it does depend on Jira data. Projects and issues must be migrated to the Cloud instance before the corresponding structures can function correctly. Additionally, please ensure that user permissions are properly configured after the migration as per our documentation.

Data Cleanup: Are there any recommended cleanup steps for app-related data to avoid migration failures or performance issues?

Version: Should we update the app to the latest version? Can it cause some issues with the current data? (current version installed 9.6.1)

  • When you migrate to Jira Cloud, Structure will automatically be on the latest version available in the Cloud. You do not need to update your Data Center app to a specific version before migrating, as it will not affect the data.

Migration Execution

Order of Operations: Should the app migration be done alongside the projects, or can it be migrated separately?

Partial Migration: Can we re-migrate using the same plan in case of failure or incompletion, or does the app require a new migration plan?

  • If you need to re-run the migration, you can do so within 5 days of the original migration by clicking the Run icon at the bottom of the Migration screen.

Post-Migration Validation

Verification Steps: What are the recommended steps for validating that the app data and functionality have migrated successfully?

  • Our documentation provides specific steps to follow after migration to validate that the app data and functionality have been successfully migrated.

Troubleshooting: What are the most common migration issues you are aware of?

Fallback Plan: If migration fails or data is missing, what is the recommended approach?
