(Auto time logging is set up by managers/Tempo admins. You receive periodic emails to ensure that worklogs are created accurately. However, you do have to do some setup and maintenance to ensure that worklogs are accurate)
Providers
Generally speaking, providers are already installed and set up by your Tempo administrators. A provider is software that you spend time in or provides a record of the time you spent, for example, a calendar. Your Tempo administrator installs a piece of integration software so Tempo Timesheets can receive this time information and use it to create worklogs.
The following software are supported. If you complete or schedule work in any of the listed software, that time is used to create worklogs for you.
-
Google Calendar
-
Microsoft Office 365
-
GitHub
-
Jira
You can manually connect or disconnect your providers on the Tempo Apps page or through the Settings menu in My Work.
If you disconnect a provider, you must manually enter worklogs as normal in Timesheets. Worklogs won’t be created automatically, and you also won’t be able to log your work with Tempo Automation, which relies on providers to create activities.
Set Up Your Calendar
If you must manually connect your calendar, use the Enhanced connection mode.
One way that automated time logging records time is by gathering data from your calendar to account for overhead activities, such as meetings. We recommend that all calendar events have an associated Jira issue to ensure that your time is correctly allocated.
We currently recognize four types of overhead activities:
-
large staff meetings
-
One on one meetings
-
Agile meetings
-
Out of Office
When adding calendar events for overhead activities, we recommend using the following titles:
-
Out of Office
-
OOO
-
1:1
-
Daily standup
-
all-hands
-
town hall

Set Up Your Development Tools
We recommend that all commit messages, pull requests, and reviews have the associated Jira issue added to them. This helps associate time spent with the correct issue and reduces the need to log time manually.
